Our Passion: To See Christ Glorified In All The Earth

We are a local church that was "birthed" out of a passion to see leaders raised up, trained and sent out to plant local churches that are reaching out to their communities with the message of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ.  How is our calling to the "Great Commission" pursued here at Providence?

  • The Local Church - we view each and every Sunday morning as an opportunity for those who have never heard the message of gospel to be invited to hear the good news of Jesus Christ and our calling to submit to Him as our Savior and Lord.  Likewise - we are part of a family of churches called "Sovereign Grace Ministries" - that is committed to identifying, training and raising up new leaders to go and plant more churches with the life changing message of the gospel.  For more information on Sovereign Grace Ministries' "Missiology" - click here for a free downloadable book that will give you a better picture on our view of missions and how we seek to implement this in our local church contexts.
  • In Kansas City - we have partnered with another gospel-preaching church in our city called, "Forest Avenue Baptist Church" located in the downtown area of KC.  Forest Ave. has a tremendous ministry to homeless women and children in the KC area - and it is our passion to help support them and join with them in ministry to care for many of these women and children's practical needs, as well as opening up doors to share with them the greatness need of every man, woman and child and that is to have Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.  Click here for a recent article about "Forest Ave." We go down there and serve at least once a month as a church to help out in whatever ways we can.  Most of the time it is through providing their meal for the night, sharing the gospel with them as a group, then having dinner with them as we seek to "build" more "bridges" to share the love of Christ with them.  We also support a local network of Foster Parents by providing them with clothing, school supplies and basic necessities - through our "K.C. KIN" ministry where we hold several clothing drives a year.
  • Internationally - This year we are taking a group to Reynosa, Mexico to serve with a short term missions organization called "World Servants" to both build homes, as well as share the gospel through bible studies, evangelistic meetings, VBS and one on one evangelism.  We also support several orphanages in Uganda and Zambia through Covenant Mercies - a gospel-centered community development ministry.  And then we - through Sovereign Grace Ministries, support both national and international church plants, community development and relief work.  We find that our relationship with Sovereign Grace Ministies is invaluable as they have linked arms with so many other ministries globally in support of those other ministries - this just enables us to increase our impact for the sake of the gospel.

From the beginning of our ministry year (August) to now - we have raised and given $15, 861 through our "Go Forward" Fund - towards both local and international missions - and this is just the amount that has flowed through the church - as we know many have given and are giving continually in a multitude of sacrifical ways.  Thank you Lord!  May God be glorified!
